What should I do to prepare for the job hunting(IB or other financial companies), as a student going to IC

I am a student going to take the Msc Risk Management and Financial Engineering in Imperial College this Sep. After graduate, I would like to find a job in the field of I-banking or other financial companies. I want to know that what should I do in the coming year as the preparation for the job hunting. A decent internship adds very significantly to your value. However, given the situation at Citi, it would not hurt to sniff around for a plan B. You also need a copy of the Guide to Quant Careers written by Paul Wilmott and myself, Dominic Connor.
