Can anyone tell me what are the pros and cons of an MBA over an MSc in Finance?

I am a Theoretical Physicist with a strong background in Maths. I am thinking of a career change towards Finance, but with little knowledge around the field i cannot decide what the appropriate sector for me is. I do know however that i need a degree, what should that be? What could apply to more sectors and make someone stand out, MBA or MSc in Finance? Asked by Gluon13, 104 days ago

If you're a theoreticial physicist, your best bet is to go for a PhD (assuming you haven't got one already) - that way you'll be equipped to find work as a quant. Failing that, try an MSc in maths from one of banks' favoured institutions - Imperial, Cambridge or the LSE. An MSc will not enable you to walk into a front office quant role, but you could get a derivatives sales or trading position, or a position in risk management.
