Perhaps you could refine your question ? The right qualification to take is a function of what you have done with your life so far and what you want to do with it in future ?

I believe your question is with regards to regulatory exams in order to qualify/be FSA approved person to work in the sector. If this is correct, then the SII (Securities&Investment Institute) Certificate in Securities & Derivatives or Certificate in Investment Management is usually necessary unless you work in an area where you don't need to be an approved person. However, they are also other qualifications that you may need and can exempt you from taking some or all of the regulatory papers, depending on the region where you'll be working. In some cases, CFA (Charted Financial Analyst) qualification may be necessary, especially if you are working in North Americas/Far East. Again these are not exaustive, there may be other exams/qualifications which may need to be taken as they vary depending on the role such as comliance, Islamic finance etc, and region where you'll be working in, full details can be provided by the banks at the time, which is beyond scope to describe up here. Hope this helps. Other than the regulatory/professional exam, you don't need to have a specific degree, though from a reputable/target university will obviously help. Hope this answered your question.
