"No Brown in Town" Is it ok to wear a brown suit in the City/for interviews etc?

I have recently undertaken some work experience in the City; on my last day one of the people I had been shadowing recommended that next time I should not wear a brown suit (as I had been for the 2 weeks). Is this a rule or merely an opinion? It is a nice suit, a dark shade of brown... but when going for graduate interviews etc I want to make the best impression possible. Is wearing brown ok or a big no-no?? Asked by nmartin178, 79 days ago

We are not far from both Halloween and Guy Fawkes night. Thus you have a choice of scaring small children with this suit, or burning it. I can't even imagine what made you buy a brown suit, much less wear one in public, and in a bank ? As you will see elsewhere on this site, I am famous for my utter disregard for fashion, and have no detectable style at all. Even *I* don't wear brown suits.
