MSc. after 3 years gap and no work experiance .....is it worthwhile?

I am from india and did my M.A. in economics in 2004 after which i taught for a while in a college there in. But in 2006 i relocated to u.k. due to marriage , and have been at home since then. Now i have got admission in MSc. International Securities and Investment Banking in the Univ. of Reading. I don't have any visa problems . But i am not sure if , even after doing this course, after a 3 years gap and lack of any work experience ......will it help me in landing a job , given the shortcoming attatched with my bio-data. My age at present is 27 and will be 28 by the time i finish this 1 year course. The course fee is £15000......which is very high indeed......is it worth the risk in my case? Please advise me on this . Thanks Asked by docer76, 73 days ago

It depends on what you want to do within Investment Banking - i.e. if you want to go into Front Office (Sales/Trading etc.) then you'll have to apply via Grad. Schemes - along with all the other fresh Grads. - this will be more of a challenge and a lot more competitive, however technically banks aren't allowed to discriminate on age so you'd still have a chance, if you want to go into Middle Office/Back Office functions (Operations, Risk Management, Compliance etc.) then there'll be a lot less competition - yet completely different career paths. You should remember that a Masters isn't a ticket to a job within the Front Office - many ppl who apply will have masters - altho. Reading is a good Masters to have - there'll be others with a Masters from LSE etc. - £15,000 is a large outlay to make with no guarantee of a job - however again depends on where you want your career to lead - also banks will want to know what you've done with your time since your original graduation
