Has anyone from outside the E.U. succeeded in getting an analyst or internship position at the London banks?

I am undergraduate finance student in Canada in my final year and looking to apply to all the analyst programmes at the London banks. If anyone has managed to get an analyst or internship position and does not live in the EU, I would appreciate it if they could share what they did with me. I'm just wondering if banks favour EU residents and if I would be wasting my time. I applied to all the internship positions but didn't succeed, perhaps for other reasons. thanks much Asked by vdorfman, 72 days ago

DominiConnor, What is this points based system you are referring to? Are you saying that one should work at securing a work permit prior to applying to the graduate analyst programmes in order to boost chances of selection? I am facing the very same difficulty as the student who posted the above question.

Yeah, loads of people have done this. People with the right to work in London are of course less effort, and at entry level that can push you the wrong side of a line. You need to work the points based system. It's not as corrupt as the US system, or as racist as those in Europe.
